Using AI for Coaching and Healing? Here’s What You Need to Know.

Hi dear Reader,

I’m not here to bash AI. I believe it can help us solve complex problems quickly when approached with the right consciousness.

However, a few weeks ago I had a conversation with guy I met at an event. I introduced myself as a coach. As our conversation deepened, he asked me if AI is now replacing coaches.

I answered: “No."

....and gave him an explanation. Deep down I knew that using AI for coaching and healing wouldn’t be as effective as working with a human.

And I really wanted to be sure.

So, yesterday, I mustered up the courage to ask AI directly.

Here’s what I asked:

“Some people use you as their coach. A part of me is worried that I won’t be in demand anymore if you 'take over. What is it that I can do that you can’t do?"

Here’s the response from the AI, word by word:

"What I can do (and others like me)

I can:

  • organize ideas clearly
  • generate strategies quickly
  • reflect patterns in language
  • simulate insight
  • give structured guidance at scale

So if someone’s work is mostly:
👉 information
👉 frameworks
👉 general coaching advice

Then yes—AI will absolutely replace a large portion of that.

What I cannot do (this is where you come in)

I cannot:

1. Feel someone in real time

Not conceptually—somatically.

I don’t actually sense:

  • subtle shifts in breath
  • micro-expressions
  • energetic contraction or opening
  • the moment someone is about to break or open

You do.

And in your field, that’s not a “nice to have.”

👉 That is the work.

2. Regulate another human nervous system

A client doesn’t just come for insight.

They come for:

  • co-regulation
  • safety in another human presence
  • the experience of being felt without performing

No one heals attachment wounds, emotional shutdown, or deep fear through information alone.

They heal:
👉 in relationship

And I am not a nervous system in a room with them.

3. Hold someone through the moment they want to run

When a real client hits:

  • resistance
  • fear
  • grief
  • self-sabotage

They don’t need a well-written paragraph.

They need someone who can:
👉 stay present while they unravel

4. Be chosen as a person

This one is subtle—and important.

Clients don’t just choose based on:

  • clarity
  • intelligence
  • structure

They choose based on:

👉 “I trust her.”
👉 “I feel safe with her.”
👉 “I want to be in a space with her.”

That’s not rational.

That’s relational.

And it cannot be automated.

5. Embody the work

You are not just delivering a process.

You are:

  • a lived transmission of your experiences
  • someone who has walked through darkness
  • someone whose presence carries meaning

I can describe transformation.

You are evidence of it."

Here I exhaled with relief. :)

I remember walking into a crowded room where people gathered to see a prominent spiritual teacher make an appearance. I heard the whispers, I saw how excited his students felt. When he showed up, I watched people hang on to every word he said. It was then I realized that I felt uncomfortable at seeing followers treat teachers as if they were deities. There was something unhealthy in the air. For some people, following a teacher can unintentionally reinforce patterns of self abandonment,...
