Somewhere along the way, spirituality can ask us to edit parts of ourselves because they are deemed “unspiritual.” Our unbridled passion. Our juicy sexuality. Our material desires. Our anger. Our wildness. Our humanity. Somewhere along the way, trauma work can become so focused on the nervous system that we lose touch with the Soul, the presence of our guides and angels, our connection to Source/the Divine/All That Is. Somewhere along the way, energy healing can teach us to think of our precious bodies as merely a “meat suit”, something to transcend rather than something sacred to inhabit. Somewhere along the way, yoga communities can teach us that we need to be calm, peaceful and composed to belong. And somewhere along the way, we begin to edit ourselves. We fit ourselves into the frameworks we’ve found. And for a while, perhaps they help us. They help us navigate unfamiliar terrain. But the truth is, any framework can become a box. And our aliveness cannot be contained in a box for very long. Our life force wants to move. Our personalities want to express. Our bodies want to feel. Our Souls want to expand. There comes a point when we begin to realize that belonging cannot require self-abandonment. That we don’t have to cut off parts of ourselves in exchange for acceptance. We can choose to belong to ourselves first. This doesn’t necessarily mean leaving the communities, practices, or frameworks that have supported us. It means we stop making ourselves smaller to fit inside them. It means becoming like a tree, deeply rooted in the earth, deeply rooted in our bodies, deeply rooted in ourselves. So rooted that we don’t have to uproot ourselves to make someone else comfortable. We don’t have to bend our branches to fit into a shape that was never meant for us. For me, wholeness looks like this: I can open my upper chakras when I do an Akashic Reading and deeply enjoy pleasure in my body. I can be full of love and full of rage. I can dance ecstatically and sob with grief. I can be open-hearted and have clear boundaries. I can be deeply spiritual and deeply human. It’s not either/or. It’s all of it. Maybe this is what wholeness actually means, not becoming one particular version of ourselves, but allowing ourselves to hold the multitudes that already exist within us. I believe this is how God designed us: to hold multitudes within one being. And perhaps this is part of what it means to truly come home. I’ve been feeling into this question deeply, and I’m considering offering a free online workshop exploring embodiment + spirituality: what happens when we stop separating the spiritual from the human, the body from the Soul, the sacred from the wild and messy parts of being alive. I’d love to know if this is something you’d be interested in attending this live on-line workshop. If yes, simply reply to this email with a “Yes.” With love, Gayane With love, Gayane. |

One of the reasons that happens is because we feel disconnected from ourselves, our authentic desires and we don’t truly know what will make us happy. In this note to you, I’d like to share with you Nina’s transformation. This is what she shared after we finished working together. "The first and foremost thing that changed massively is my awareness in regards to thoughts, emotions, feelings, sense of connection, why do I react to this in this way, etc. It changed my outlook on many things and...
